PINEVILLE - The Wyoming County Toy
Fund received $1,000 Thursday to help buy toys for needy children across the
county this Christmas.
Officials for Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation
presented the money, which was donated by workers at the Pineville branch, the
corporation and one of their contractors.
Toy Fund organizers said they are
grateful for the money, which will go toward purchasing presents for around 2,200
deserving children. Jeanne Goan,
who is on the board of directors for the Toy Fund, said the annual Christmas
party is a community effort. “The whole community [is] coming together to see
that kids [can celebrate] Christmas,” she said.
Brittany Thomas, coordinator of
external affairs at Cabot, said the corporation is happy to help these kids
celebrate Christmas. “It's
great to know that we're helping those in need - those less fortunate, those who
need a little boost,” she said.
Folks can donate new or used toys at
any Wyoming County fire department and at the DHHR in Pineville. Banks across
the county are also collecting checks for the toy fund.
The Toy Distribution Party is Sunday
from noon to 3 p.m. at Wyoming East High School. Anyone interested in
volunteering can show up that morning. For more information, visit the Wyoming County Toy Fund Facebook page.
