BECKLEY - With this weekend's forecast looking stormy, Newswatch spoke to officials on Friday about what the Division of Highway is doing to prepare.
With snow, rain, and freezing temperatures in the forecast Division of Highway officials said they are already gearing up for all types of weather. Employees said the work is physically exhausting, but more so mentally exhausting.
Although the department has been busy preparing for the worst, ice is a drivers' worst enemy and can catch anyone off-guard.
Mark Allen, Division of Highway equipment operator, said this upcoming weather should be treated with caution and drivers of all vehicles need to be patient.
"The main thing is be patient you know, we're out there doing the best we can do. Just be patient. Slow down, give us a break when you see us. I mean we do have some large equipment and we get on some of the side roads. You know, the roads are narrow so kinda give us a break there and just know that we do our best to try to get everything, everybody's road treated as quickly as possible," said Allen
Officials said they will start to treat the roads as quickly as possible according to when the next storm hits.
