CHARLESTON - Officials with the West Virginia State Police released data on traffic activity during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Here are the numbers according to First Sergeant Michael Baylous:

Fatal Crashes: 2
Fatalities: 2
Fatalities with Seatbelts: 0
Alcohol Related Collisions: 7
Total Collisions: 93
DUI Arrests: 44
Speeding Citations: 1198
Seat Belt Citations: 245
Child Restraint Citations: 13
Motorists Assists: 500

Baylous said, "The reported activity for the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend is somewhat disheartening.  When considering the total number of DUI arrests and alcohol related collisions, it is clear that some people are either not getting the message or are completely apathetic about highway safety.  The unacceptable behavior of these folks continues to put their own lives and the lives of countless others in harm's way.  There are no legitimate excuses for such behavior."
