Student arrested for making threats

SHADY SPRING- A Raleigh County student is arrested after threatening the school on social media.

According to the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department a student at Shady Spring High School has been arrested and charged with making terroristic threats.

The individual, who is a juvenile made threatening statements and pictures that had been posted on social media. School officials were made aware of the situation, and helped with the investigation.

Raleigh County Schools Superintendent Jim Brown says, quick action is necessary to avoid such potential threats
Brown says, "A tip came from in from the community to the school administratorss and they acted upon it, so the system worked.  At this point now we'll allow law enforcement to their job. Eventually, we'll end up with a recommendation to our board of educationn for their consideration on if any disciplinary actions need to take place."

The student was arrested Sunday night and remains in custody at this time
