BECKLEY - Police made a quick arrest following a home invasion in East Beckley on Tuesday morning.

42 year old Eric Ian Day of Beckley has been charged with burglary, first degree robbery and possession of crack cocaine, after police said he forced his way into a residence on "E" Street at 1 AM. Day took off with a wallet and bag of keys. Day came into the home unarmed, but picked up a knife from inside the residence and brandished it against the victim. Corporal J. Blume with the Beckley Police Department told Newswatch that officers were able to make a "fairly quick arrest" after following up on leads with the help of the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office.

"It seems like sometimes crime does increase during the months of November through January, but nothing, nothing like this. Usually this is not the norm, I mean someone breaking into a home while people are there; that's not normal, normally that doesn't go on," said Chief Detective Dave Farley.

Day is currently in Southern Regional Jail on $250,000 bond.
