BECKLEY - One of the biggest holiday fundraisers has begun and hopes to benefit children in our local counties.
Toys for Tots will be partially funded by the Battle of the Banks fundraising efforts. Several banks within the Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas, Webster and Wyoming counties are selling paper train cutouts for $1. 97 cents of each dollar goes directly to the Toys for Tots Program. The toys that are bought will be stored at Beckley Auto Mall until they are given to the needy children in this area. Officials said that they don't want any child to go without a Christmas this year.
"Well Battle of the Banks is a major fundraiser for us at Toys for Tots. We have about 8 or 9 participating banks and folks out there listening may ask themselves what can they do... all they need to do is go into one of these bank locations and buy a train cut-out for $1 and that money goes into our account to buy toys for local girls and boys who might be deserving this Christmas holiday season," said Jay Quesenberry, organizer of Toys for Tots.
Toys keep flowing into the Beckley Auto Mall, and the organization says all donations are put to good use within the local communities.
