BECKLEY - The Pinecrest Business and Technology Park in Beckley is ready to begin phase two.
The ribbon cutting took place Tuesday morning to open the second phase of the project to develop the area. There are 220 acres in the park and each acre cost $75,000 to purchase. Beckley Mayor Emmet Pugh explains why the continued development is essential to the area.
"Well certainly for the city it gives us a tax base and at the same time what we're developing here, were developing jobs, and not minimum wage jobs," said Mayor Pugh. "This is unique because in economic development, you need to have property that's ready to go, and that's exactly what we have here."
Pugh also says there are some lots that have already been sold for doctors offices.
