WELCH - Reconnecting McDowell hired an architect to design housing for public school teachers in the county.

The public-private partnership planned to build a teachers village in downtown Welch.  Reconnecting McDowell said Community Housing Partners Design Studio will design the project and was scheduled to present options to the board at the December 17 meeting in Charleston.  An option will be chosen after that gathering.

McDowell County School's Superintendent Nelson Spencer said the housing project was a tool for the county to recruit and retain teachers.
