BECKLEY - The Humane Society of Raleigh County is facing a problem with their older animals and they're asking for your help.

They are focusing on their long-term residents at the shelter and trying to get them adopted. The animal has to have been at the shelter for 100 days to be considered a long-term resident. Shelter employees say if they can't get their older pets adopted they will be forced to euthanize them.

"We try to focus on them more because they begin to develop depression and frustration. You'll see cage aggression coming out in dogs that are normally not aggressive, you'll see them walking the cage out of frustration because they're not getting the attention that they need," said Erica Stock. "Those are the ones we're really trying to put a spotlight on right now."

Stock also says they would make a great addition to your family right before the holidays.
