HARPER HEIGHTS - Authorities investigating a body found in the wooded area of Harper Heights said there's a high probability it is that of a missing Kanawha County man.

Raleigh County Sheriff Steve Tanner told Newswatch that detectives believe the body may be that of 28-year-old Kareem Hunter of Charleston, who was believed to be dead after his September disappearance.

Authorities did not disclose why the body was brought to the Harper Heights area of Raleigh County or how long it laid undiscovered.

Earlier this month, the woman believed to have killed Hunter was arrested for murder.  Marmet resident Kelsey Marie Legg, 19, has been held without bond in South Central Regional Jail since Oct. 5.

The body, which has yet to be identified, was discovered Wednesday afternoon in a shallow grave off of Old Turnpike Road.

Authorities on scene said the body was discovered by individuals searching for scrap metal in abandoned houses.  The crime scene is in the same neighborhood where Deborah Dalton, 51, was found shot to death this year.

"It is very odd, and Raleigh County doesn't have this a lot, so it is certainly an exception to the rule," Sheriff Steve Tanner said. "Of course neither is related to the other, and we are satisfied it is totally coincidental."
