Fayetteville - The preliminary hearing for a man accused of fatally burning his wife's seven cats was rescheduled for another day.

Michael Ford, 56, waived the time of his preliminary hearing in Fayette County Wednesday, according to Magistrate Leonard Bickford.

Ford was arrested on seven counts of animal cruelty last week after police say he placed a crate of cats on top of a fire pit and let them burn. His wife, Robin Ford, said there were 12 cats in the crate, some of which were just kittens.

Two dogs and two cats that avoided the incident were removed from her home until Michael Ford's fate is determined.
He remains in Southern Regional Jail on $35,000 bond.
