DOSWELL, Va. - A Virginia theme park said it won't resurrect a Halloween attraction that depicted an underground mine disaster next season.
Kings Dominion said it doesn't intend to operate the "Miner's Revenge" Halloween Haunt attraction as part of it's regular rotation.
The United Mine Workers of America had raised concerns about the attraction. They called it an insult to the memories of the thousands of miners who have died in America's mines.
The amusement park's website described the attraction as miners, who were left entombed deep underground after a mine disaster, searching for the men who left them to die seeking revenge. Kings Dominion said in a statement that the attraction was not designed, nor intended, to depict a specific situation. The Halloween Haunt ended Sunday.
