OAK HILL - Some of the state's most notable Democrats are hoping to raise enough money at Saturday's fundraiser for a successful 2014 election cycle.
The Fayette County Democrat Executive Committee hosted its third annual Democratic Dinner at the Lewis Community Center. Guests included Rep. Nick Rahall and Commissioner Walt Helmick.
"We want to see Democrats elected because we feel they really care about our working families and the issues that affect us here in West Virginia," Marion Tanner, member of the Democrat Executive Committee, told WOAY.
Attendees said the fundraiser serves as a "pep rally" for the party. They hope they'll have good representation next year.
"I would like to see the Democrats retake the House of Representatives," Fayette County Circuit Clerk Danny Wright said. "I'd like to see Natalie Tennant elected U.S. Senator, and I would like to see more democrats in various offices from the court house to The White House.
