BECKLEY - A local animal shelter is putting the “howl” in Halloween this Saturday.

The Humane Society of Raleigh County is hosting their Howl-O-Ween Festival and Helter Shelter haunted trail.

Donations will be accepted and all proceeds will raise money for the shelter. “We really need that intake of money to help out with the animals that are coming into the shelter that need to go to the vet and need a place to stay and be cared for until they can be adopted or sent to a rescue organization,” explained Melissa Lyons of the Humane Society.

The festival includes several animal costume contests as well as vendors. It runs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The haunted trail costs $8 to attend and starts at 7 p.m.
