BECKLEY - A fast-food restaurant chain is hosting Cancer Awareness Day Wednesday to help support a local family touched by the disease.

The Chick-fil-A locations in Beckley are having a Benefit Day for the American Cancer Society and the Barksdale family, who are dealing with breast cancer treatment bills. Ten percent of tomorrow's net sales from the Beckley Galleria Plaza and Crossroads Mall locations will be donated to a fund, of which half of the money will go to the American Cancer Society and the other half will go to the Barksdale Family.

Richard Jarrell, owner and operator of the Beckley locations, said the Benefit Day is one way the community can honor and aid the people touched by cancer. “This is a tangible way that we can do something that will be able to help everyone as well as the Barksdale family,” he explained.

The Benefit Day is occurring at both Chick-fil-A locations in Beckley from open to close. There will also be buckets available for donations and letters of well wishes.
