BECKLEY - A Florida man was sentenced to 14 years behind bars for mailing 17,000 powerful prescription painkillers to West Virginia.
Ryan Moore, 32, of Hillsborough County, Fla., pleaded guilty in May to money laundering and conspiracy charges that stemmed from the shipments of Oxycodone between October of 2010 to April of 2012. The pills were sent from a Post Office near Tampa, Florida to a P.O. Box in Glen Fork. Moore also mailed the packages to a location in Nicholas County. In return, Moore received at least $330,000 in cash payments.
Prosecutors said he was handed the sentence Thursday in U.S. District Court in Beckley.
The West Virginia recipients if Moore's mailings were sentenced to prison terms back in August.
