BECKLEY - A Summers County native is back in West Virginia after accepting his new position as executive director of the New River Gorge Regional Development Authority.
Chad Wykle comes to the organization after years as a foreign service officer with the U.S. Department of State. He plans to focus on job expansion, creation and business opportunities in Fayette, Nicholas, Raleigh and Summers counties.
Wykle also believes it's important to retain employees already in the area to ensure the gorge prospers.
"To grow the region," Wykle said. "To market it even more. To take it to the next level to make this region truly the place where people want to locate their business and help us grow."
Wykle replaces Judy Radford and hopes to follow her long-term development efforts by working with the private sector.
Wykle tells Newswatch that regionalism is the future of development.
