BECKLEY - Officials for New River Community and Technical College (NRCTC) decided not to reimburse the Greenbrier County Commission $1 million for an ongoing pool renovation battle.
The College's Board of Governors came to this decision at a special meeting Monday morning. The Greenbrier County Commission had originally given $1.3 million in bed tax money to the college to help pay for the pool project. The college had returned $300,000 to the commission in September, but decided not to return the rest because officials said the college has expended costs toward the project.
Dr. L. Marshall Washington, president of NRCTC, said he stands by the board’s decision.
The Board of Governors is also asking the College's Foundation to proceed with filing an interpleader so the issue can be legally settled.
