BECKLEY - Two local law enforcement officers received awards of recognition Thursday from Crime Stoppers of Raleigh County.

Park Ranger Nick Freier and Lieutenant Larry Lilly were honored at the Crime Stoppers Luncheon Meeting. The men received awards for consistently excelling in performance.

Freier recently convinced a suicidal man not to jump from the New River Gorge Bridge. “It's just an honor to be recognized amongst the law enforcement officers in this area,” he said.

“I'm just thankful to be here,” said Lilly. “Thankful that the guys I worked with showed up and supported me here. It's a nice feeling.”

Crime Stoppers officials also recognized Sheriff Steve Kessler for his support of the organization. Crime Stoppers honors excelling law enforcement officers from adjoining counties several times throughout the year.
