CHARLESTON - State and federal law enforcement were investigating a threat against the state Department of Health and Human Resources.
Department Secretary Karen Bowling told employees in an e-mail that the agency received a message "containing threatening language." Bowling said law enforcement was notified. She asked employees to report any "questionable activity" to their supervisor.
Lawrence Messina, spokesman for the state Department of Military Affairs, said the DHHR sometimes received threats because it dealt with situations that resulted in hot tempers. Messina declined to further comment on this message because he didn't want to interfere with the ongoing investigation.
