CHARLESTON - State Board of Education members met a robot that is helping a young cancer patient virtually attend school in Summers County.

Ellie Rhodes, an elementary school student, and the robot VGo were introduced at the Board of Education meeting to demonstrate how Summers County schools are embracing technology in the classroom, according to school officials. The robot allows Rhodes to keep up in school and interact with classmates.

The Summers County Board of Education and Superintendent received a certificate of recognition at the meeting for their commitment to education and technology.
