OAK HILL - You would think a pumpkin that is dropped from 60 feet in the air would automatically break, but some Fayette County elementary students worked to prove you wrong. The fifth annual pumpkin drop at New River Elementary School challenges fourth graders to figure out a way to keep the pumpkin in tact. They were allowed to work in teams or individually, and the winners will go on to compete in Charleston next week. More than 100 pumpkins were dropped Wednesday from the Oak Hill Fire Department's ladder truck.
