BEAVER - The "Everyone With Diabetes Counts" program is providing opportunities for people with medicare to learn more about diabetes.
The Greystone Villages Senior Living Community is one of the many places around the state to host the free diabetes classes which takes place on October 11. They include activities like "build your plate" where you will be able to visualize the fat, sugar and salt content in a meal. Diabetes friendly snacks will be provided and organizers explain the importance these classes.
"With diabetes basically it's a huge issue in the state of West Virginia with our obesity rates diabetes is right up there along with that," said Megan Ward of Greystone Villages. "It can also be a silent killer, a lot of people don't know that they have diabetes until something major happens and they are in a health crisis so to help prevent that and help people manage that is huge as far as health goes in the state of West Virginia."
The classes are offered on October 11, 25, and November 1 at 1 p.m.
