CHARLESTON - Governor Earl Ray Tomblin orders all U.S. and state flags to half-staff on Sunday in honor of those who have lost their lives fighting fires. The proclamation is in effect all day to observe the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. 81 first responders who paid the ultimate sacrifice are being honored at the service in Maryland, which also marks the beginning of National Fire Prevention Week that runs through October 12th. Governor Tomblin says it is important to pay respects to those who protect the citizens of West Virginia and across the country.
