UPDTATE: Victims identified in fatal car accident

UPDATE - A Fayette County woman and her unborn child were killed in a head-on collision in Raleigh County Wednesday night.

Morgan Smith, 26, of Pax, and her baby Isabella both died after the car Smith was driving went left of center on Paint Creek Road near Pax and hit an oncoming truck head-on.  The driver of the other vehicle Curtis Stover, 43, of Pax, was flown to CAMC with internal injuries. 

Sgt. C.A. Light said that Smith was seven months pregnant and they don't believe she was using her phone at the time of the crash. Light said that they may never determine what caused Smith to drift out of her lane, but it could be medically or pregnancy related. 

Her body was sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy. 

PAX - A woman believed to be pregnant died and another man was flown to the hospital with serious injuries following a car accident Wednesday night in Raleigh County.

It happened around 9 p.m. on Paint Creek Road near Pax. State Police believe the woman crossed the center line and hit an oncoming truck head-on. They said the woman was not wearing her seatbelt.

Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash, according to State Police. Pax Fire Department also responded to the scene. State Police are handling the investigation.
