BECKLEY - Folks hoping to visit national parks, museums and monuments during the federal government shutdown are out of luck.

These places are closed to the public for the time-being. Crissy Gray, district office supervisor of AAA in Beckley, recommended travelers keep this in mind.

Folks with plans to visit national parks in the next few weeks should try to reschedule or amend their trips if they can, according to Gray.

Airline travel should not be affected because essential personnel such as air traffic controllers are still scheduled to work. However, Gray said folks looking to get their passports should keep in mind that passport processing centers are likely suspended.
