OAK HILL - Some Fayette County residents are taking it upon themselves to provide some warm clothing for children before the temperatures drop.

Mike Bone of Fayetteville and his friends are asking for the public's help in donating new gloves and hats for elementary school students. Bone said he's already had a good response and hopes that 500 pairs of gloves will give kids less to worry about in the winter season.

"If we can keep our kids warm in the winter, it gives them more opportunity to focus on other things -- school and things that are just as important, and if you're warm as a kid, you're a little bit more happier," Bone told Newswatch.

The gloves and hat drive will continue through Nov. 15.

The eight drop-off locations include Ben Franklin in Fayetteville, New River Sportswear in Oak Hill, King Coal Chevrolet in Oak Hill, Piggly Wiggly in Hico, U-Save Convenient Mart in Lookout, JC's Pit Stop in Danese, Gauley Furniture in Gauley Bridge and Montgomery Herald in Montgomery.
