Obama's environmental plan will cost Americans their jobs and slow economic growth, say politicians

CHARLESTON - The international climate panel is highly confident that global warming is a man-made problem, but some state political leaders do not believe altering coal mining operations is the solution.

The Obama administration's environmental plan aims to cut greenhouse emissions from coal-fired plants. Representative Nick Rahall said it will be at the cost of American jobs and Senator Joe Manchin said undercutting the coal industry will slow economic growth.

The discussions stem from a new international climate report that calls global warming "unequivocal." The report was welcomed by the Obama administration and environmental advocates.
