UPDATE: Fire destroys house, sends firefighter to hospital

UPDATE:

SPRAGUE - A firefighter sent to the hospital while battling a house fire in Sprague Saturday evening is recovering. 

Dispatchers were alerted of the fire on Swain Street around 6:25 p.m. Saturday. Beaver, Bradley and Mabscott Fire Departments responded to the scene, as well as three Jan Care Ambulances. The Red Cross was also contacted to assist the displaced family.

No one was home when the fire started, according to dispatchers. A firefighter with the Beaver Fire Department was transported to Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. Firefighters said he suffered from heat exhaustion and dehydration. They said the firefighter was released from the hospital and is recovering.

SPRAGUE - One person was sent to the hospital after a house fire in Sprague kept firefighters busy for about two hours.

Dispatchers were alerted of the fire on Swain Street around 6:25 p.m. Saturday. Beaver, Bradley and Mabscott Fire Departments responded to the scene, as well as three Jan Care Ambulances. The Red Cross was also contacted to assist the displaced family.

No one was home when the fire started, according to dispatchers. A first responder was transported to the hospital. No word yet on the extent of the victim's injuries.
