BECKLEY - About 100 people are expected to workout simultaneously at a Beckley gymnasium to solve childhood hunger.

Teams and individuals from several Southern West Virginia gyms are set to attend the team workout event Saturday at the C-4 Fitness Ministry.  The event will raise money for the "Feed our Local Kids" program, which sends home weekend meals to young students in need.  Workout organizers said just $60 can feed one child during weekends for an entire school year.

"We take a lot for granted, we complain about the little things, but how often do we have to go without food?" said Pete Staton.  "It's just something that we have, we take for granted, and a lot of kids nowadays have it hard anyway.  Then we compound that by what are these kids going to do if they get that hungry to come up with food?"

Saturday's team workout event was scheduled to start at around 10:00 a.m. at "The Place" behind the United Methodist Temple in Beckley.
