ROCK CREEK - Authorities have made an arrest in the case of a bar burned down earlier this month.

Charles David Quarles, 30, of Dry Creek, was arrested Monday after a warrant was issued by the State Fire Marshal's Office.

Quarles faces charges including nightime burglary and six counts of arson, according to a criminal complaint.

Hillbilly's Tavern sat on Coal River Road below five "sleeping rooms."

Quarles is recorded on a phone call stating he was offered $1,000 to burn the bar down, according to a criminal complaint.

He also told authorities "he got scared when he heard the fire go poof and ran away," the complaint read.

Quarles is set to appear in court Sept. 23.
