BLUEFIELD - Hundreds of people attend the Bluefield Coal Show Tuesday to learn about new technologies in the mining industry.
This is the 20th year of the biennial coal show. More than 240 exhibitors displayed their products and services at the Brushfork Armory.
The event is the largest show of its type in the eastern part of America. Organizer Shannon Bowling said it demonstrates the impact coal has on the region. "It's just a way to make a contribution, give back and let people see what actually coal does for the local economy," he explained.
The Bluefield Coal Show continues Thursday from 10 a.m. To 6 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
