HINTON – A Hinton man who allegedly planned to shoot and kill his McDonald’s coworkers is arrested and in jail.

The Hinton Police Department arrested Ronald Atwell, 26, of Hinton, after they learned he made multiple threats to shoot up a Stokes Drive McDonald’s with an AK-47-style rifle.

Authorities tell Newswatch Atwell also warned his coworkers to call in sick if they didn't want to be killed. He faces a felony charge of making threats of a terrorist act.

Hinton Police Chief Derek Snavely says, “Quick action was in the best interest of public safety and he believes his men possibly prevented a tragedy.”
