SUMMERSVILLE - Preparations are underway in Summersville for an annual festival that celebrates the history of potato farming.
The 44th annual Nicholas County Potato Festival kicks off Friday evening in downtown Summersville. The celebration is hosted by the city of Summersville and by the Summersville Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). The free festival will have rides, games eating contests and other activities.
Marianne Taylor, executive director of the Summersville CVB, said the celebration highlights what the county has to offer. “This is just a fabulous time for [everyone] to get to come out, enjoy time together and enjoy all of the events and entertainment that we have to offer.”
The festival's opening ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. For the complete list of events, click here.
