BECKLEY - The New River Park in Beckley hosts a pool party Tuesday, but not for people.

The park allows dogs to come and socialize with other dogs at the pool. Donations were accepted for dogs and cats for the Raleigh County Humane Society. Dogs jumped into the pool from the diving board and swam in the pool. Owners and organizers are happy the dogs got to socialize.

"We try to do this every summer it's a great opportunity for everyone to bring their dogs out and splash around and have fun because typical pools don't allow dogs in them so luckily this one allows us every year at the end of the year to invite the dogs and everyone to have fun," said Erica Stock of the Raleigh County Humane Society.

"My husband said that we need to bring the dogs out to socialize she's the only dog and she's like a spoiled child so we need to bring her out here to have fun with the other dogs so she can get along with them," said dog owner Marlyn Dobson.

The event was free to all dogs and owners.
