Animal shelter crowding

BECKWITH - The Fayette County Animal Shelter is now having to turn away new arrivals, as they estimate they are housing more than 200 dogs and cats at their facility. Shelter officials say during recent weeks they have received many animals as the result of cruelty cases, and they are extending an adoption special into this coming week to help make room for new arrivals.  They are trying to avoid euthanizing any of the animals, but it will come to that if they are not able to get the pets to new homes.  This is a problem they face around this time every year.  If you are a Fayette County resident, and you want more information on the spay and neuter program, call (304) 574-2105.
