UPDATE: Coal City fire deemed suspicious

UPDATE: Coal City Fire Chief Zach Honaker said that Friday morning's fire On Tingler Avenue was deemed suspicious, and the state Fire Marshal's Office was called in to investigate. 

Newswatch caught up with the Megan Smith, the home's owner, who said no one was inside at the time of the incident.  Smith also said she's a single mom who was getting ready to move in.

"I was just hoping I could finally get my little girl her own room, but this is going to take longer than expected, and that's the downfall of it."

COAL CITY - Three departments responded to the scene of a porch fire early Friday morning.

Raleigh County dispatchers said that it happened on Tingler Avenue in Coal City at around 3:21 a.m.  They said that callers told them that a front porch was on fire.  No word yet if anyone lived in the residence, or if there were any injuries. 

The Coal City, Sophia City, and Sophia Area Volunteer Fire Departments along with Best Ambulance all responded.
