BRADLEY - An outbuilding was destroyed in an early morning fire Thursday in Raleigh County.
Dispatchers said that it happened at around 2:48 a.m. on Sunset Lane, which is off of North Sandbranch Road in Bradley. The barn-like building was located behind a storage facility and was near several homes, so crews from Bradley-Prosperity, Mount Hope, and Pax Volunteer Fire Departments worked to keep it contained to that one structure.
Harold Barr lives nearby. Barr said that the firefighters responded quickly, but the building was already destroyed by the time he called 911.
"This morning my daughter came in the room, woke me up while I was sleeping, basically to tell me that there was a fire that was happening outside, so I immediately ran outside, and called 911," he said, "by the time I called them it looked like to structure had already been flattened, but we wanted to make sure the fire didn't jump across and get on people's property."
The fire's cause is under investigation.
