BECKLEY - The coal Heritage Highway Authority is looking for nonprofit organization interested in hosting AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America, also known as VISTA.

Monday organizers met at the Erma Byrd for Higher Education in Beckley to discuss the plans. AmeriCorps VISTA is a federal anti-poverty program. They provide full time volunteers to support projects at nonprofit, grassroots organizations to help alleviate poverty. Organizers explain what VISTA can do for small companies.

"They can get a lot of work done and they are extremely valuable resource for a small organization because they are low cost and usually it's just a simple administrative fee and the VISTA, they can do a lot of capacity building economic opportunity, create economic opportunities, it's a big asset," said Jake Krack.

There are two more information sessions tomorrow August 27th at the Logan Area Public Library.
