BECKLEY - The University of Charleston-Beckley campus starts classes Monday.
This is the first full year of UC-Beckley since Mountain State University lost it's accreditation. Regional President Dr. Jerry Forster said there are around 500 students enrolled for the fall semester, mostly first year students. Last year there was around 500 students but were mostly seniors. Freshmen students explain how their first day went.
"Well it's a lot more free, I mean I'm commuting from home but still there is a lot more free time and down time," said freshman John Wetzel. "Time management is a really big part of it. The first day of classes are pretty good, I'm pretty excited I only had one class today but my professor is a really cool guy, it's history class but I actually think it's going to be pretty interesting this time," said Wetzel.
The school also added an education degree in elementary education this semester.
