HARPER HEIGHTS - Authorities are looking into the role drugs may have played in the death of a woman in Raleigh County Monday night.

State Police Sgt. Michael Baylous told Newswatch that troopers responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle with a body underneath it on Easton Street in the Harper Heights area.

Officials identified the victim as 51-year-old Deborah Dalton of Lanark, who they believe was shot to death.  Police said they launched an active investigation into a crime that appears to be drug related.

On Wednesday a large poster board posted on the home read, "No one has permission to come on this property for any reasons."

"The pizza man come out here and got robbed right down the street here, and then they had this incident here the other day, so it's getting kind of rough," resident Charles Clements said. "It's getting bad considering because Harper was a quiet neighborhood."

Troopers are following up on leads Wednesday.
