UPDATE: Second suspect turns himself in

UPDATE (8/22/13) - The second suspect wanted in connection with a moonshine still... And marijuana in McDowell County has turned himself in.

According to the McDowell County Sheriff's Department Lewis Lester turned himself in around 2:30pm Thursday. Lester was charged with 4 counts of delivery of a controlled substance and 1 count of conspiracy, after police found a moonshine still, marijuana plants, and prescription pills in Paynesville Wednesday.

He was arraigned by Magistrate Steve Cox and a bond was set at $75,000, he's currently in Southwestern Regional Jail

UPDATE - One woman was arrested and authorities are still looking for her father after police found drugs and moonshine in McDowell County.

Melissa Lester, 25, of Paynesville, was charged with operating a moonshine still, cultivation of marijuana, five counts of delivery of a controlled substance, and conspiracy.  Lester was released on $75,000 bond.

McDowell County Sheriff Martin West said that on August 15 members of his department, along with several other agencies including the Southern Regional Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, state police, and Buchannon County, Virginia Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant in the Paynesville area when they found 50 marijuana plants that averaged 15 feet tall growing next to an operational moonshine still. 

West said more moonshine was found hidden under hay bales along with a substantial amount of prescription medication and a gun inside a barn belonging to Lewis Lester.  Lester wasn't home at the time of the search, but his daughter, Melissa, was taken into custody.

Anyone who has any information on Lewis Lester's whereabouts is asked to call the McDowell County Sheriff's Department or state police.

BRADSHAW MOUNTAIN - One person was taken into custody and another arrest is pending after police found drugs and moonshine in McDowell County.

Sheriff Ray Foster with the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office said that on August 15, members of his department along with several other agencies including West Virginia and Virginia State Police, Southern Drug Task Force, 29th Judicial Narcotics Task Force, and McDowell County Sheriff's Office seized an operational moonshine still and numerous marijuana plants that were more than 17 feet tall when they executed a search warrant in the Bradshaw Mountain area.

Foster said more charges are pending.  The investigation continues.
