Sexual assault investigation could become evidence

WILLIAMSON - A sexual assault investigation that happened 12 years ago could play a role in the investigation of the death of Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum. State police looked into allegations that Crum sexually assaulted a 19-year-old  girl in 2001 while he was Delbarton's police chief.  They concluded the act was consensual, so no charges were filed.  Now, Mingo County prosecutor Michael Sparks entered a 2002 report on that investigation into a list of potential evidence in Crum's death.  Tennis Maynard is charged with fatally shooting Crum back on April 3rd, and his attorney says the assault allegations support the general nature of the defense case, but he will not elaborate further.
