Mingo County cases could be affected

MINGO COUNTY - Dozens of Mingo County cases could be thrown out, thanks to allegations that a suspended judge appointed a friend as a foreman to help him frame a romantic rival. Every case the county grand jury heard in 2009 may be challenged by lawyers, after circuit court judge Michael Thornsbury was charged Thursday with conspiracy.  State bar president Harry Deitzler says the fact that the foreman was a public office holder and was barred by law from holding the post indicates lawyers are considering challenges.  Supreme court officials expect these challenges to come after the charges are resolved, but there could be a petition for an investigation sooner. The court will handle those issues as they come up.
