UPDATE: Boy drowns on rafting trip

UPDATE -  One person is dead following a rafting accident on the New River Tuesday afternoon.

Robin Snyder with the National Park Service says at 2:38 Tuesday afternoon, a 16 year old boy on a commercial rafting trip was pulled out of the Lower New River, near the Keeney Rapids. CPR was performed on the victim, he was then taken by ambulance to Plateau Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His identity is not being released at this time.

The National Park Service continues to investigate.  

KEENEYS CREEK - One person is transported to the hospital after an accident on the New River Tuesday afternoon.

Park Service officials say one person who was with a commercial rafting company possibly drowned following an incident on the New River at Keeneys Creek. CPR was performed on the victim. No word on their condition.
