DANIELS - The "Remember the Miners 2nd Annual Golf Tournament" was held Monday at the Resort at Glade Springs.

The tournament is a public awareness campaign dedicated to honoring all miners in the industry. The money raised helps fund financial aid to Miners Department of Miners and students pursuing higher education in the mining industry. West Virginia head basketball coach Bob Huggins talked about what the tournament means to him.

"I think we all have a greater appreciation for what those folks do for the state," said Huggins. "We all want to do something and we didn't know what to do and nobody really knew what to do, so we wanted to remember them and I think the best way to do that is to give scholarships."

The money raised will go to the "Remember the Miners Scholars Program."
