BLUEFILED – 8 people arrested on drug distribution charges pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday.
The pleas were part of the Bluefield pill initiative, a two-year joint law enforcement fight. US Attorney Booth Goodwin says seven residents from Mercer, McDowell and Wyoming counties and a resident from Bluefield, WV, entered guilty pleas this week.
Nearly all of the charges involving using a telephone to commit a drug crime and the other involved oxycodone distribution. The defendants face punishments ranging from four to 20 years in prison when sentenced in December.
