GHENT - Even though there is so much for the scouts to explore on the Summit property, many of them got out and about on Thursday to do some work. Several buses brought about 200 Boy Scouts to New River Community and Technical College to work on six projects. They cleaned the fences and parking lots, as well as designed a walking trail for faculty and students. School officials say this amount of manpower has saved valuable time and resources for the college. A Fayette County church also reaped the benefits of the scouts service as well. Fayetteville Presbyterian Church had scouts from Texas and Wisconsin come out to do some landscaping, remodel their playground and lay down mulch. They say this is all their way of saying thank you to this area.
