Tomblin requests storm aid

CHARLESTON - Governor Earl Ray Tomblin is asking for help from the federal government for cleanup efforts in the central part of the state. The governor is seeking a major disaster declaration after the storms from last month caused flooding, landslides and mudslides in areas like Roane, Doddridge, Gilmer, Lewis and Harrison counties.  The money would help individuals, businesses and government agencies get back on their feet.  Tomblin says especially in Mason County, farms, buses and mail delivery were directly affected by the closure of a highly traveled bridge.
