ANSTED - The Hawks Nest State Park golf course has been in jeopardy of closing recently due to lack of funds for the land lease. Senator Bill Laird and the Fayette County Commission has stepped in and saved the course from closing for now. The course has been struggling recently with membership but the senator and the commission are working on a plan to change all of that.
"I met this morning with the county commission that's very interested in building a sustainability plan and build up the membership base of that facility and try to ensure that it continues to be a source of recreation for the citizens in the Upper Kanawha Valley," said Senator Bill Laird.
The Course was on track to close July 1st, but will continue to be in business throughout the summer.
